Hi all. I am looking at a 2009 Passat tomorrow and it has 110k miles on the clock. Is this too much? A cousin of a friend is selling it too me. Said he looked after it and it has a full service history.

It is a bluemotion 1.9 diesel. I will be aiming at 15k miles a year max myself. Prob want to keep the car for 5 years or so.

It will have under 200k at 9 years old. High but not astronomical and if looked after they rarely give bother.

The price would need to reflect the mileage though.

Its a bit above average. Better to have that on the clock and a FSH than no service history and low unverified mileage.

The ones with the high mileage like my own (200k after 4 years) are normally company cars that are on the road every day. They are generally looked after well in my company anyways. Full service history.

Thanks all. He is looking for 11k for it. What do people think of that?

Btw is there a dmf fitted to the 1.9tdi bluemotion?

That is very strong money considering it is a private sale with no comeback. Here is one from a garage with slightly higher mileage, newer CR engine, full service history and warranty for not much more:

I'd be a bit reluctant to spend that kind of cash on a private sale with no warranty, but that's me.

Rarely give bother? I doubt Ba Barabus would agree tbh. Turbo, injector trouble and Im yet to come across a Passat that hasn't had issues with its electronic handbrake.

Also Id be more reluctant to spend €11k on a car from a friend if there's ever bother with it...

I would be more reluctant to spend 11 cents on a car from a friend tbh. Number one rule of motoring (well, of motoring sales anyway) is don't buy from or sell to a friend/family member.

Too much risk of follow up.

Couldn't have put it better myself!

Also how's your new found sport mode on the 535?

Very effective(Apart from making me look like an eejit at the karting meet :P ). It matches the effect of the kickdown but at much earlier revs.

I mentioned that to you at the midway meet as well but you weren't having any of it! :D

Glad to hear its of use...;)
