Hi everyone, I appealed 3 modules on May the 20th and its been nearly two whole months without a reply. Is this normal? I asked my college and they said they only sent them off three weeks ago to be corrected by I don't believe them. Anyone with any experience off this thing? It's looking like I'll find out by the time cao offers come round but it's stupid if it comes to that. What on earth are fetac doing exactly?

Your centre is responsible for the appeal. They have to arrange the process themselves and FETAC/QQI approve the process but do not get involved. Ring and ask the centre how long and when should you hear. If they do not give you a straight answer ask to see their Quality Assuarnce documentation. They have to have the time frame etc listed in their documentation. If you are not happy with their answer then inform them that you will be raising the issue with QQI and requesting that they review the centre QA process.

Thanks for your reply, further ed. However, I'm still not completely clear on what's going on. According to my college, appeals aren't corrected by tutors from the college but by an external source. However my college won't tell me how I can contact that person, nor whose correcting them! I payed 120 euros for three appeals and I'd expect better service when someone gives their money to a college. Frankly, it's a farce and I want to complain officially to someone but don't know who? With the cao offers getting ever closer I could use the extra distinction or two, in the event my appeal is successful, of course. Surely someone is held responsible? Does anybody know who ti contact in this situation? I did the plc in Tralee if it's any help.

Ok. The centre will not and should not allow you to contact the EA but you should be entitled to be told how long the process should take.

Have you taken my advice above and rang the college and ask when was the EA appointed and how long were they given to process the appeals. Ask for a copy of their Assessment processes as contained in the QA document. After the telephone call put your request in writing and cc FETAC which is now part of QQI via this form http://www.qqi.ie/About/Pages/Contact_Us.aspx

    Hi
If this is any help I am still waiting to hear back about my appeal. I rang the college and they told me I would hear in September,( I'm not sure what September they were talking about) as it is now the 14th October. I sent an email to Fetac asking what the time procedure was and I got a reply saying they don't set a timeline and it is the responsibility of each Fetac provider.
I personally think all of this is a disgrace as I submitted my appeal on 4th July.
If I am to answer your question I don't think Fetac or the college are doing anything.

    Hi folks

FETAC have nothing to do with your appeal - the college/centre must arrange the first external authentication visit in May and then if there are appeals they must arrange for the re-visit. If you still have not heard then email FETAC and cc your centre stating that you have received no information and requesting a copy of the centre's QA procedures. Best of luck

In some cases the Appeals are sent to a different provider/Centre. Even in this case ime it shouldn't take longer than 6-8 weeks after tge appeals deadline has passed. I would do like above and look for their QA procedures.
