Tyre Pressure - A Lesson Learned !

    Hi Guys
Every day is a school day so heres my lesson today. My beloved doggibike tyres were a bit soft so I checked on nothing and just pumped them to 7 bar or so... Happy out hot evening and going to work I thought I went over sommit and it was caught on the tyre at the front so I stopped up and found the tyre had a twist in it.. Rode her on and parked in the shed at work..

Came out and the back tyre this time was flat. Went to change the tube and to my horror found that there was a hole the size of a 10c piece in the tyre..

While waiting on the wife rescue squad I looked at the sidewall of the tyre. pressure 3.5- 6 bar max... .. I pumped them to 7 bar and with the hot weather the tyre carcass just couldnt take it... Its just cost me 2 tyres

Moral of the story - Its a commuter not a racer, check the max rated pressure - Never assume (look at the word assume - ass-u-me:confused:)

Anybody else get caught like me or am I the only clown in the circus !

Changed my tyres from 32mm commuter tyres to 24mm Conti GP's, forgot that the tubes in the old tyres were 25mm-32mm tubes and but them back on the bike in the new tyres. Get the tyre on, pump the first wheel up to 120psi and put it against a wall behind me while I start to pump the second tyre.

5 seconds later what sounded like a bomb went off behind me, look around and the tube had exploded.

Tyre was grad though, still, scared the ****e out of me and I'm down a tube!
