I have the 2013 groupset on my bike and have an issue with it. It's been working perfectly for the last 4 months, but recently I have a rubbing issue while cycling in the small chainring. My local Lbs had a look and they told me that it's the outside of the chain rubbing against the inside of the large chainring. With the bike mounted on a bikestand no rubbing is occuring, and there is a clear gap of 1 or 2 mm between the chain and chainring, but once I ride the bike and therefore am putting the bike and frame under stress, the rubbing occurs again.

I wonder has anyone come across this. Any advice would be great

11 Speed Red ain't out yet afaik (end of July supposedly).

What gear combinations do you notice this in? Small at the front, big at the back, or Big in front Small at back?

10 speed Red. It happens on all gear combinations while using the small chainring. In other words any combination from 34x27 to 34x12

Probably just cable stretch -tighten the downtube adjuster and you'll be grand

Not unless the LBS is talking through their wotzit. No amount of cable stretch will reduce the gap between the chainrings, or cause the chain to swell.

However, I suspect that the LBS is talking crap, and it is, indeed, cable stretch and the chain is actually rubbing on the front mech, not the inside of the chainring.

Ta for the replies lads. Inclined to agree with Kenmc. I can't see how the chain could be rubbing against the inside of the chainring.
