It's not uncommon to get about 6 or 7 of these alighting on my window, looking in, especially as the Summer wanes into Autumn. Makes me feel like I'm that film "The Mist". I was thinking maybe a Sand Fly? I feel like I probably should know what it is but I don't. Anyway, if anyone has a look at the attachment and knows and can share, I'd appreciate it. :)

    Hi briany,

I think it looks like the rather curiously named St.Marks Fly,so-called because it often first appears around St.Mark's Day(April 25th.).

    I've attached two images below - I think there's a similarity?

The one on your window would appear to be a male - apparently males have larger eyes.
The two images attached below show a female - which clearly has a smaller head and eyes.
