    hi lads,

a '00 1.3 Ghia Ford Fiesta thats not starting. Not turning over at all, its got power - it will start on a push start and runs fine - i drove it about 8 miles then turned it off and same again - will not turn it over.

    I'm thinking starter motor??

    Sounds like a starter alright.
When you turn the key do you hear a click from the starter?

i think i know the sound you are talking about - like if u tried to turn over with a dead or disconnected battery? I dont believe i heard that - i could hear some electronic stuff whir somewhere as i switched it, but dont think i got the click.

Yeah definately sounds like your starter motor is gone. Not sure about the prices but you should check with your local garage, they might be able to get you a non ford starter motor considerably cheaper.

yeah thats what my first reaction was, tis the brother in law's missus' car, we rescued it and i wanted to get it home and check out the starter, maybe get a part tomorrow and fit over weekend - reckon i could manage it, probably only a few quid from a breaker - but he said, just drop it to the mechanic and let him worry about it -

I just wanted to satisfy my curiosity - thanks for the help lads!
