Anyone know of anywhere in Dublin that does leatherwork supplies? In particular im looking for things like, a pricking iron, leather awl, varies punches and also shoulders of leather itself. There is a great supplier in the uk www.leprevo.co.uk whom I've bought from before. However I'd prefer to shop closer to home and get some advice in store on some projects.

    Thanks in advance

RJ Mooney. They do wholesale leather. They have Veg tan and the likes. I found it a little expensive so decided not to buy. I wasnt getting wholesale so if you can, then maybe the price might suit. http://rjmretail.com/

I did hear there was a place in Wicklow that sell some Tandy stuff but im guessing they will be dearer than getting it straight from Tandy. I think the name was crocodile craft or something like that. Not 100 percent sure that name is correct.

Iv had the same problem as yourself and I think you may find that buying online is the only way to go unfortunately. If you find something id appreciate a heads up on what you find if possible.

I havnt got around to using Le prevo yet. Mainly due to there method of not using an order basket and pay pal. How have you found it ordering with them? Are they worth it?

I just ordered quite a bit of stuff off them and im waiting delivery. TBH, im not very happy with them as they screwed up my order. I asked for a square ft of Veg tan hide along with other assorted items. Instead they are sending me a full hide! I only noticed this on the invoice when the order was already processed. On the form you have to order with, you have to do the totals yourself (backwards and ancient system). I put down quantity 1 with a total of £5.97. Instead, they are sending 1 full hide! The value of which is £83.97

I was furious when I saw this as they had confirmed the total in a previous mail which had £5.97 as the total for the leather order. Then in the invoice, the quantity jumped to 13.99! I replied asking them how on earth they could make that mistake. To which they replied that they don't sell per square foot, only price in square foot. They said that it mentions on the website (which is correct) that they only sell in certain sizes. Having said that, this doesn't take from the fact that I said in the order I wanted £5.97 worth of a certain leather type which they never queried. Instead they are sending me £83.97 worth of leather

The only solution they have for me is to refuse delivery and they will refund me the price. I suppose this is about the only thing they can offer at present but im extremely unhappy that they wouldn't even contact me to confirm the amount was correct.

So in summary, their archaic website and ordering system is brutal. I wouldn't recommend them having gone through their system. Its a real shame as they have quite a variety of items and the price isn't crazy. However thats £100 mistake on my order (taking P+P into account)

    ...

On the upside of this I may have some Brown Veg tan leather for sale if people are interested :-) I don't really want to refuse delivery as I want the other items in it. So if there is anyone interested in some, let me know. Otherwise I may have to send the items back

    Hi
    Unfortunate that that happened

From A personal point of view I do intend to try them myself at some point though, as their pricing on a lot of items seems very good and others have said they are good.
Hopefully your problem was more of a one off than the norm. They do need to update their site and how you buy from them. Its a little too old fashioned tbh

Have you tried Tandy in the UK. There service is very good. They can be a bit dearer but if you look out for their monthly sales they have great discounts. Plus if you join their elite customer thingy you can get the wholesale prices.

All the best with your leather crafting

Cheers for that. I got the order I will not be sending it back. It is a silly mistake on their part and mainly because of their ancient ordering system. I am quite annoyed but I will get over it. I hope to swap or sell it to lads I know who might use it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully others throw up what they know in time
