Hawke sidewinder. I've one on 243 with no hastle at all.
I'm sure you would get a new bushnell for that money.
Haven said that you might get a top of the range scope second hand for that money.

Is it hunting or target shooting you need it for.

On lower power they are perfect. Obviously high power mag during the fading light hours of the day will always be a problem no matter the make. During daylight hours any mag and the picture is fine.

I have one on the .308 and for the money you cannot beat them. Your €500 budget would allow you to buy the scope and still leave €100 in your back pocket.

For the budget you are limited in terms of a good quality new scope, but as said there are available makes, second hand, for the same budget. When and where they come up is anyone's guess as is the price. So suggestions will either be lower rated scopes that may or may not suit a .308 rifle or other suggestions that mean paying more than your €500 budget.

I have a Bushnell 4200 tactical elite 6-24x50 on my Sako 75 .308 Very good in low light and great for near or far shots. The turrets allow you to dial in the range if you want or you can use the mildot reticle to hold over.
In the 4 years of trekking through forests, up hills (mountains for me), and all the bangs and knocks it has never let me down.

I believe in having the extra zoom available if I need it, that's why I have a 6-24 and the bigger objective lens, x50, allows more light through to your eye.
At Bisley this year at the Phoenix meeting, using this setup, it allowed me to to get a second place silver medal in the Staking Rifle competition, any other shot would have been the gold medal winner. 300y is a long ways off when your target is only 4"

I bought 2 of these second hand @€;390 and €420, should be cheaper now. One was on my .223.

If i were in your shoes i'd put another 50-100euro on top of your budget and buy a second hand Zeiss Duralyt 3-12x50. A scope like that would certainly be dedicated to hunting. They will take huge recoil, hold zero, excellent in low light and top class clarity with a name you can trust. It pays to get the best for your money in the long run as you may never regret paying the extra 50 or so. Good mounts gives any decent scope best results

Might be helpful is lads put in prices that they paid new for the scopes they recommend. This will give the OP an idea as to what he is looking at. Will also give him an idea about what to pay for second hand ones.

I paid 275 for my hawke sidewinder second hand (practicly new infairness). I think they are around 400 brand new. You wouldnt be disappointed with the scope. 56mm objective lense, 30mm tube, side parallax, illuminated reticle, milldots, target style turrets for adjusting to distances and windage.

On really high power it can get a bit milky but your talking 18-20 power up and if its for hunting I don't think you will ever go past 10-12 power at most.
