How many bridesmaids are there?

Gatlin - Enough said
Collins - Won't be there unless things SKANAA pull a complete U turn
Dix - Not there
Rodgers - Only back from ban last year
Chambers - Enough said
Martina - Possibly
James Dasaolu - Another possible

However I do think there is an opportunity for youth alright and a few names do spring to mind

Vicaut
Ashmeade
Cole

These can all be a factor without a doubt. It does create an interesting story in that there is only one out of 6 medalists from the last 2 major championships who will be competing.

The 800m is shaping up the same with Kitum and Rudisha out, Amos injury hampered. The US will look like the only ones able to challenge Aman (Unless Bosse can progress even further)

Agreed, not that many bridesmaids. Unfortunately, there's a very good chance that Gatlin will medal. And with Bolt not showing an awful lot of consistent form yet, he'll go into the race believing he can win. Perish the thought!! Dasaolu seems to be coming into good shape, but was at the very very edge of his ability in running his fast time lately. An 80% Bolt and 100% Gatlin would have the edge on him.

Gutted that Rudisha won't be running, his WR last year was the absolute highlight of the Olympics for me. Aman looks fantastic though. But, who knows, Aman and Kitum were very young when they burst on the scene, who knows what sort of a surprise package could give it a shot.
