    Hello,

I've bought a propane gas cylider for my new BBQ. However, the regulator supplied with the BBQ does not fit the gas cylinder.

I've attached picture(s) of my gas cylider connection and the regulator supplied with BBQ. Can anyone tell me what type of regulator I need and where to get it?

    Thanks in advance.

The regulator that comes with the BBQ is for propane the gas bottle you have is butane.Your choices are that you get a bottle of propane (or patio gas as its referred to in some places) or get a butane regulator and change the existing one.The BBQ will work on either but propane is better

The cylinder is I have (and shown in the picture), is a propane cylinder. It's clearly marked on it as LPG Propane.

You are right, the BBQ set up asks for a propane cylinder. But the regulator doesn't fit.

Would it be possible to get a pic side on from the top it looks like a butane connection so another pic would be very helpful

    That's what it looks like.
    Info here

I would be looking at taking it back to supplier

But it's problem solved if I get a "butane regulator" to fit the cylinder I have?

A butane regulator is designed for a lower pressure, as Robbie advised, return it to your supplier.

I got a regulator yesterday which it says is for use on Butane and Propane cylinders.

BBQ fired up fine, at the first time of asking.

    Thanks for the help.

Doesn't butane last longer, gives better value, 30% more energy released per QM of gas.

Propane's only advantage is that it performas better at lower temperatures, below 10c.. But then who is going to be out in less than 10c with their BBQ ?
