Carbon Bike on Donedeal.

I was looking on Donedeal at bikes for sale and came across this bike which is for sale local to me here in Donegal. <snip> As can be seen from the pictures it looks like a Scott bike however there are several issues I see with it. I do note that he does not actually mention 'Scott' in his ad but the pictures lead people to believe its a scott.

    1. The seller states its an SL model, which does exist (CR1 SL) but there are no CR1 or any other model names/decals on the bike and the CR1 SL comes with Ultegra groupset.

    2. The rear seat stay and front fork are curved/wavy unlike any other Scott bike I can find however very similar to Pinarello FP Quattro.

    3. The top/cross bar is also very similar to the FP Quattro.
    4. All scott bikes i have looked at come with scott stems, this one has a Deda stem.
    5. The bars are Hylix carbon which are not standard equipment on Scott bikes.

I rang the seller last night, nice fella, could talk for Ireland...He told me he bought the bike from Wiggle last christmas. He says it came with a aluminium seat post and he changed it to a Ritchey CF post but that everything else is the way he bought it (although it does have odd tyres which he explained he changed as he didnt like the tyres it came fitted with and so changed the rear only)

Now, I think myself the the frame is a Taiwan/China pinarello copy and he built the bike up himself either using a damaged Scott bike or that he bought new.

He's looking for €1395 but said he'd take €1300. I like the look of the bike and would have preferred if he was genuine and stated that its a copy frame that he built himself and priced it accordingly. I think his asking price is too high for what it is. Anyone any opinions on it or a proper value?

It is a fake. Scott never (well for as long as I can remember) released a curvy fork or seatstays.

I don't think Scott ever made a frame like that. It's clearly styled on Pinarello, more than likely a chinese copy as you say.

    Fierce dodgy.

That looks like my Hong Fu 001 painted up. Am viewng on my fine so can't be 100% but would be 95% sure. A bit cheeky putting Scott decals on.

Not 1 piece of Scott equipment on sale on wiggle in 2013. He should be able to show you a receipt or his order history.

If I was selling dodgy carbon frames I'd be doing my best to shut down this forum!

You could try to find it in one of these catalogues:

    http://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/support/catalogs/
    http://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/support/archive/

    You won't though.

You've all just confirmed what I already suspected. Think i'll just leave it so but might send him a message just to let him know that I'm not impressed at being lied to. It would have been very simple to say its s frame he bought and built himself.

Yeah would have made more sense to put Pinarello decals on it!

OP, I've deleted the link - you should now have the info you need to take it up with the seller directly
