Bangernomics car- suggestions

In this thread I explain how my 9 years NCD will be going for a Burton in September if I don't use it.

Although I could insure my 2.0 Mazda on its own and not run itr, it's important to know that I would prefer to have the option to run a suitable car over Autumn/ Winter if possible. I think the costs of running a 2.0 are too prohibitive for me at the moment and would mean that I would have to remain off the road for longer.

I think I've decided to find a viable clean sub 1.4 petrol car with or without a current NCT and try to find a place to store the Mazda until I can get back to work and re-commission it properly. I think I'd be mad to part with it knowing what I'd get for it and what I've put into it. My sister needs a car at the moment and she may take the Mazda and run it as her own. That would solve everything.

Any suggestions of cars to buy, specific or in principle? Bare in mind I'm pretty tall. I think I'd like it to be non-skangery and not too shameful. I'm not afraid of grief or out of pocket expense at this stage. I'm mainly concerned about the initial outlay and it's longer term viability as a cheap runabout.

I can raise maybe €500+ but if it needed a little servicing, I could pick away at that stuff over the coming months. I'm also concerned about how easy it will be to move on so it would either have to be cheap enough to dispose of or if I do spend a bit more, attractive enough for someone else to buy.

TL;DR- I'm looking for recommendations for a cheap, small cc runabout to apply my NCD to (in the short term). I'm thinking about a Bravo/ Brava, Punto, a 5 door Corsa, Punto, Corolla...
