Best online tyre supplier?

    Hi,

I'm after a set of uniroyal rainsport 2 tyres, after reading reviews they would seem to be the perfect tyre for my A4 diesel, but I cannot source a set locally so I'll have to get them online.

I would prefer to buy from an Irish supplier/website if possible, is eiretyres the only genuine irish site?

Or is camskill the best of them to deal with?

    Thanks

Screw that buy irish crap, camskill will probably deliver to your door from the UK cheaper than you'd buy from anywhere here

eiretyres.ie despite having an Irish domain name is a German company.

You could try camskill.co.uk or oponeo.ie

I've recently used the Polish company openeo for a set of Michelin Energy Savers 195 65 15 which worked out at €67/ea including VAT and delivery

    - 2 days for dispatch (from the Netherlands)
    - And another two business days for delivery from DPD (4 actual days including weekend)
    - Dates on the tyres were pretty recent too

Might take longer for you if your tyres are an unusual size, my tyre size is very common

    Other quotes were:

€75 from both Eiretyres and Pneus (Portuguese name; not sure where they're based though)

Camskill had decent prices, but their delivery is £15.98

A friend tried to get the same tyres at trade wholesale price from their supplier but they wanted €88/ea +vat

    Cheers all

I was just pricing a few sites and camskill is coming in the cheapest of them all including delivery,

So think I will go ahead and buy them.

    Thanks

They can be got for less than €85 supplied and fitted in Dublin.

I have found several suppliers online.
    Eiretyres (German)
    Oponeo (Polish)
    Tyres-pneus (French)
    Camskill (UK)
I have bought from them all except tyres-pneus which is mainly due to them having the highest prices in my experience.
All have been good with a week or less delivery and fresh tyres less than a year old.

Indeed.. the problem I'd see with the online option is that you then need to find someone who'll fit them for you and dispose of the others. Plus where are you going to store 4 tyres in the meantime if you live in an apartment say?

Factor that into the cost and the saving may not be so great after all.

Personally I think most retailers are fairly competitive when you take the above into account.. the biggest hurdle I find is choice. Most seem to carry either top-end premium priced tyres or cheapo Chinese/never-heard-of-them rubbish. :(

    Looking to buy from Oponeo.ie.

Coming up near 100 euro cheaper for Toyo Proxes C1S than anywhere.

Anyone had dealings with them? Genuine new tyres? Delivery times?

Yep I bought a set of bike tyres off them recently, no issues once I had the bank transfer sorted.
Don't use Moneybookers /Skrill they are hassle.
    Take about a week usually.

I used camskill too and can only recommend them. Great prices and quick delivery.

Another vote for Camskill, been getting my tyres from them for years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,907 ✭✭✭✭CJhaughey

I go 4x4 tyres off Camskill a few years back at a good price but their carriage charges are pretty hefty. 32stg for a set of 4 car tyres.
I find for most stuff they are competitive and probably faster delivery if you are in Dublin but the postage charges make them a bit dearer than Oponeo or Eiretyres.

I used to get mine from camskill, but I'm getting really good prices from a local place for the same tyres. Was looking at 2 Goodyear Eagle F1's 225/40/18. Can get them fitted in Limerick for 300 for the pair, or I can buy them from camskill for 252. Plus fitting, which is about 15 for each. So 282. And I have a stuck lock nut, so if I brought my own tyres, they'd charge for that. :-)

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I've never had to buy tyres online, I've always found tyres as cheap from a supplier in Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭Taylor365

    Toyo's T1 sport x4 form Oponeo: €536 + fit/bal = €600

Atlas, fastfit quoting me at least 200 a corner: €800

Discount tyres in Blanch have beaten Camskill and eiretyres on price for PS3's and Goodyear F1's in both 17" and 18" in the last few years for me, Top service with a courier service also available - contact Keith.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭Taylor365

They also quoted me over 200 for 215/45/18.

I am looking for premium tyres so i can't blame them.

Just to update this, I purchased the Uniroyals off camskill on Sunday and had them delivered to me Wednesday morning, delighted with the service. Will probably purchase from them again :)

    Openeo doing Michelin Supersport 225 18 45 for €180 a corner.
Local dealer quoted me €155 a pop today for the 2 of the same tyre.

I don't like doing it but I literally told him I could get them cheaper than his first quote (€185) online. Came back with renewed quote so am booked in this weekend. Free balancing and tracking too!

2 years ago I could not get my tyres local.
They are All Season from Vredestein, 215/65 R16.

So I used Eyretyres.ie without problems.

I used a tyre shop on the Naas Road near the Red Cow and got them very cheap fitted and balanced. Don't remember the price, but it was half of what 2 other shops quoted.

Today I ordered again the same tyres from oponeo.ie. They were €70 cheaper then Eyretyres.

They accept now all the different card payments and I think Paypal too.

I let you know how it works out.

Agreed, but a lot of stuff tyres wise is out of stock these days and the prices aren't working out as well as they used to.

They are a great resource for Mitsubishi FTO parts too, that's the bulk of stuff I got from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭Meteor67

    OK, here is my experience:

    It can not be better.
Sunday ordered at www.oponeo.ie and paid with credit card. Monday they were shipped directly from Holland (Vredestein is a Dutch brand) with to Ireland and they arrived today morning. 2 hours later I had them fitted and balanced for a tenner each and that's it.

Just perfect without any problems. :D:D:D

I just got a set of rainsports from discount tyres in blanchardstown very reasonably - probably worth a call if you are dublin based or nearabouts.

note: I am not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer.

That's where I buy all my tyres, I've never had reason to buy online as the prices were as good if not better from discount.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 253 ✭✭tmg

yup- just checked oponeo, and it was quite a bit cheaper at discount tyres (and they included fitting, which would be extra cost with online sourced tyres).

I've bought a lot of tyres there over the years, and they have always been better priced than online.

I bought 4 steel wheels off them.
I think they were around 35 each.
Cheapest I could find and had no problems.

I have checked online with Camskill every time I needed tyres in the last 10 years. They have never beaten local tyre suppliers when all costs are taken into consideration. I always shop around with the local guys and get the best deal and have the tyres fitted within an hour of the first phone call.

They are up and running, fairly efficiently too. Over the past year I got 2 sets of tyres off them (1 set just 2 weeks ago) and a few of guys from work have used them recently as well. Great prices (I got new Uniroyals Rain Sport 3 205/55/16 for 48£) and very quick delivery. Will use them again.

Don't forget the shipping when comparing prices. Those tyres are actually costing you £56 not £48. When you convert that into euro and add on €15 for fitting you could have bought them from an Irish company for the same price.

I'm not forgetting that. A set of 4 of these is about 270 euro delivered, I get them fitted for 10 per tyre which makes it 310. I could not find a local tyre place that could offer anything close to that value wise. Estimate savings on those woul dbe around 70-80 euros - full tank of petrol.

Was just passing a tyre fitting garage and pulled in to see what they could offer as an alternative to Uniroyals: Michelin-110e, Semperit-97e and Cooper (?) - 87e. The only comparable tyre is the Michelin - but that is the whole 130 euros more expensive per set. No value for money to me.

I had trouble ordering from Openeo. They refunded my payment because they couldn't get the right authorisation from Paypal...?

Went with Camskill. Wasn't cheap but sure when are good tyres cheap....

Paid 425 delivered for my 4 vredstiens last week cheapest local place was 600 all in. Still 100e saved

Online buying ftw got them 3 days after ordering tyre place said I'd have to wait 3-4 weeks for them to come from mainland europe

Had to purchase a tyre this morning. Less than 3 months old and just saw a massive bulge in the side of the tyre. Looked at Oponeo which was working out to be €15 less than eiretyres. However, I would be lucky to get it before the 17th February, whilst with eiretyres I should have it Monday/Tuesday at the latest. Id be afraid the tyre wont last, so decided to pay the extra from eiretyres. Running four cars means I buy a huge amount of tyres every 18 months, and Ive always found either camskill or eiretyres to be the most consistent.

Hate being caught out needing a tyre quickly. Paying 125 for a nexen when if I had a few more days I could have had a Goodyear F1 for a tenner more last year killed me a little inside

Thankfully they werent the F1s! Had them for years, but the soft wearing just fleeced me. Using Falken ZE914 now, and overall seem to be very good. Not as "train tracky" as F1 but only lost the front twice, and was off the paint at a set of lights.

Same here. After I got car lowered/front polybushed and 20mm spacers on and left redoing alignment a few months they were down to 3mm on the onside fronts after 8000 miles. Trying vred ultrac sessantas this time around
