Petrol in Diesel 1994 Skoda Octavia ASV

Herself has put about 40% petrol in the above car, topped up with diesel and driven home about 250 yards or so. Is there any chance of getting away with not draining the system, maybe add dipetane and keep it topped up with diesel?
At least it's not common rail or anything too delicate. Here's hoping, thanks for any replies.

Usually you can put anything into the pre CR engines, but I think 40:60 is too strong a petrol mix.

You might risk it sucessfully and get away with refilling by €10 every time the needle drops a bit. but probably best to drain the tank

Agreed, 40:60 is pushing it. Id drain the tank, and replace the filter too.

    04 Octavia?

Yep, '04 Octavia import, and we love it. Is dipetane any use in petrol-in-diesel situations, if the petrol causes lubrication problems? Thanks for the replies.

04!? That changes things completely. I thought it was 94. Lose that fuel mate, and definitely lose that filter!

Dang, I made a mistake in the title, well spotted! Loosing the marbles.....

There were no octavias in 94.

40% is a bit strong of a mix. I would not chance it. I think you can access the tank from under the back seat on these..

ASV engine is a VE system, so a little more tolerant of bad fuelling than PD or CR. Nonetheless that much petrol won't be good for it. Drain it down, replace the filter and refuel to the brim. It'd be a good idea to add a high-lubricity additive to the tank too, something like Miller's EcoMax. Dipetane as far as I can see does not make any claims about lubricity enhancement.

How about two stroke oil? Would that be suitable in this situation and how much would you use?

I'd use a proper diesel additive. Two stroke oil is designed for a completely different application.

Another issue with petrol in diesel engines is it burns hotter not good for injectors and valves

Best option is drain the tank and refill with diesel.
