Head scarf to cover scalp?

I'm going to the Bruce Springsteen concert in Cork next week and now that I know it's going to be really hot I need to get something to cover my head as otherwise my scalp will be fried!

I don't want to wear a baseball cap if at all possible as I think they are only "holiday abroad by the pool" wear...!

So, I was thinking a head scarf of some sort. Do girls wear these and if so where would I get one?

    Thanks :-)

I wouldn't really wear a head scarf, I'd probably go for a hat- like maybe a straw trilby or something? Or even a turban type thing?

    Some ideas on this page:

Straw cowboy hat. Only ever OK at large outdoor gigs though. Throw it away when you're finished.

Or spray one of the mist like suncream sprays on your parting and any of your scalp that's exposed, that's what I always do. Or if you tie up your hair (if it's long enough) it will provide a bit more coverage.

I ended up getting a head band/scarf....are they really that bad?

    It covers my head anyway!

    This is it:

Does your hair not get really greasy from that stuff though?

I've used those protective spray things before, they're ok but it does depend on the brand, since are less oily than others. I think there's a Mark Hill one you can get in Boots that's fairly light.

I'd call what you bought though more of a hairband than a scarf, I think it's grand- sure like anything it's often how you wear it is the key! And anyway, I've been there on the burnt and peeling scalp front and from a comfort and safety point of view you'll be glad you used anything to cover up!

I'm a big scarf fan! I just get a long colourful one and wrap it into a turban kind of style, or twist it around my hair. Just play around with it!

Not really, not noticeably but I have very thick straight hair so you wouldn't see it very easily. I used to use a Malibu spray when it was pretty much the only clear spray one on the market and it was really good for it, some of the Ambre Solaire ones are very good for it now too. I just spritz it along my parting and it's done, I don't spray loads that might make it greasy.

Thanks for your advice everyone! I actually tried that headband on again last night and I don't like it anymore :o

My mum has pointed out to me that it won't be as hot when the concert is on anyway so I should be fine but just take a baseball cap with me just in case - it's usually when I'm standing in one spot while the sun is beating down on me that I get burnt so hopefully that won't be a problem at 7.30 in the evening :)
