    Hi all,

I just bought and new car radio/player with front usb and aux line-in, the problem is the radio (pioneer DEH-1500ub) doesn't recognise my Galaxy s3 as a media storage device... or any kind of device. It just says "USB N/A" every time I plug it in via usb.

So have been googleing my brains out trying to get the USB to recognize my handset (galaxy s3) and I have found nothing even close to what my problem is, and I'm stumped, so I thought .... better ask a bigger nerd, and here I am, asking :)

I did manage to get the phone to play using the AUX line-in and it's a working solution to playing music from my phone, instead of carrying all my CD's with me... or using USB stix to play music from. But now my dash looks like a jungle of wire and cable, I really wanted just one wire to do all of it, charge, play music etc, I had previously being using FM transmitters, and mp3 players to get all my music to play in the car, but omg the wires were everywhere.

If anyone knows of a workaround, either an app or a sneaky way to trick the radio into think my gs3 is an ip4 I would owe that person 1 coke.

    Thanks for any replies.
    V

I would imagine that it is because it is connecting via MTP rather than mass storage. Have you tried this app?

This app from Play will also work...

    SG USB Mass Storage Enabler

All reports on the S3 look good....
    Description

    Requires root access!!

This application allows you to enable USB Mass Storage mode on your Samsung Galaxy SIII or Galaxy Note II.

This will export your microSD card over USB as a mass storage device, this will not work with your internal memory due to hardware and software limitations.

You can also create shortcuts to easily toggle between UMS on and off.

there have been some probs with Easy UMS, in the XDA thread....??

Yeah both solutions resulted in error 19 whatever that means. . Have to sort this out now. At least I can get it to read now so thanks for that

Problem is the pioneer range seems to be exclusively for ios and not android and defo not Samsung.

These are machines.... one day they will obey me but not any day soon lol

I thought there should be a way to make them talk but after installing several apps rooting my phone and voiding the warranty I'm out of ideas.

guess I'm stuck with a wire jungle on my dash until samsung make a car stereo compatible with s3. A pity really cuz just when I thought I was making progress I get bitch slapped by a stereo. ...

Got into my car this morning and plugged my phone in on the usb port, and it started playing music !!! I couldn't believe my ears. Thanks for all the help guys :)

Just one niggling little detail, the songs play first to last, would there be a way to make them shuffle? or is this the best I can hope for?

    Thanks again
