Myself and a friend are trying to formulate a plan of doing a road trip of the usa for 4 or 5 weeks, we would both really like to see the real america and go into the sticks. Any advice on a route, I would also need advice on what city to fly into and which one to fly out off on my way home

A huge consideration is that car hire companies charge a lot to drop a car off in a different state to where it was hired.

So... try to do a loop and end where you started.

    Just a thought.

    I have used https://www.madmaps.com/

Yes, you pay for the maps. However the routes are spectacular.

I've used it to find many of the famous drives in the Southeast - Deal's Gap, Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, etc.
