Nova competing with Eastcoast

Just saw that Nova are covering the Bray Airshow live and providing the soundtrack to the event which is expected to attract 80,000 people. Now am I missing something but is Bray not prime territory that Eastcoast should be defending with its life? Surely Eastcoast have dropped the ball on this occasion? I know Nova is a small station but it seems they are competing aggressively for listeners in Dublin and surrounding counties.

Can't help but think that eastcoast are missing out on a huge opportunity on their own doorstep. I know Bray is right on the border but this really should be an eastcoast gig. No?

Nova are franchised to cover parts of Wicklow, including Bray. Nothing wrong with this; if anything most of those who'd go to this would be from the greater Dublin area and not Wicklow.

Nova have a local install on 95.7 - in place for about a year afaik - so probably want to give themselves a higher profile.

Possible that EastCoast turned down the gig

btw I wouldn't call Nova a small station - high power / lots of promos / wide coverage area

To be fair, East Coast are doing an Outside Broadcast for the Bray Summerfest today.

Indeed they were and the couple of links I caught were riddled with signal dropouts, clearly they need to invest in.their equipment, I mean if you can't do an ob from Bray sea front back to.base in Bray without the line going down repeatedly then u have problems especially when Nova are breathing down your neck.
As an aside I switched over to today FM who themselves were doing an ob from merrion square, the line was clear as a bell. Its the basics that let stations down.
