Quick wash and hoover today for the both of them, waiting on a small delivery from detailingshed so hopefully will park the civic into the shed over the weekend and tackle her with the DA

You know those jobs that are big enough to annoy you, but small enough to be put on the long finger?

I tackled one today, small fry by comparison to some stuff on here but its one less thing wrong with the car :P

As long as I have it, the passenger door check strap has been broken. Not a problem on your own, add a passenger and queue the cringes as the door flies open fully, more often than not into a wall :(

    The problem.

Got a replacement from the UK Volvo forum for peanuts.

    0ueu.jpg

Speaker grill off, speaker out, check strap out and replaced < 10 minutes.

A superficial injury that a stray 2liter bottle of coke caused to the old speaker grill on the way home with a take-away. Secure your loads guys!

    722e.jpg

Also solved by the goodness of a Volvo forum member breaking a car.

    Finished!:)

    * Changed the oil and filter on the avensis today.
    * Got the coolant and brake fluid tested to make sure they are alright
    * Took the mothers car (04 superb daysel) to get tyres and wheel alignment done.

Refurbed the carbon cube interior and plasti dipped my centre console. Hoovered out 11 years of dirt from under everything.

Got 4 clips from Honda today for the wheelarches (€9!)
    Might reattach the mudflap tomorrow...

Gave the Mondeo a major wash (wheel arches, interior, everything) today, have to have it looking good for its trip to the garage on Thursday. Timing belt and steering fluid holder thing along with new fluid are set to burn a nice hole in my pocket

Hard to get good pics of the carbon cube but after 11 years you can imagine it was pretty marked

Changed the upper control arm on my A4 yesterday evening. Took a bit longer than I thought as I've never owned an Audi before. Could feel the difference on the way to work this morning so happy now. Not bad for a car I only paid €700 for and that was all it failed at the NCT last sat. Cost me €39 trade for the part.

Quick hoover in the Black GP, it's up on DD and Adverts now.

Loan approved will be collecting the new yoke first thing in the morning so expect a lot of pictures tomorrow :D

    Image10212.jpg
    Image10221.jpg

    Image10231.jpg

Using some very crude tooling its looking a bit better :)

    Moving onto yesterdays activity....

    New parts
    Image1025.jpg

Bench has to come out and drain the remaining fuel
    Image1026.jpg

While I had it up I decided to paint the drums
    Image1028.jpg

6 bolts hold it up, one rang on me. Drilled it out with a 90 degree attachment piece and tapped it
    Image1029.jpg

    Old ring
    Image1030.jpg

    Sender was dirty again
    Image1031.jpg

After fighting with the new ring for ages I ended up pikeying the old one back on and using a big jubilee clip. The ring is about 2mm smaller in diameter than where it sits on the tank. French logic!!!
    Image1032.jpg

ARB bush change was a must
    Image1033.jpg

    Easy to see why!
    Image1035.jpg

Decided to sort out that leak in the downpipe. Hacked a lump out of it and put in an M6 countersunk bolt. Sorted :D
    Image1036.jpg

    Welding an extra hanger
    Image1037.jpg

And that was job done. However look at the state of me bumper
    Image1038.jpg

Oh and I need spacers people.... ;)

Bit of sheet metal, cut and bend I to place and rivet it to your bumper, it will no longer melt. :p

Lets see how I got on.....

From the other thread, I had the option of black or silver. Went for a galvanised lump of steel from a door :D and another boardsie car sneaking in....
    Image1039.jpg

    Hmm can't have that....
    Image1040.jpg

Bate out the shape and cut to suit
    Image1041.jpg

    Shaped crudely
    Image1042.jpg

Drilling one handed because I can....
    Image1043.jpg

Then I realised I can't have this lovely shiney piece going on with a filthy tailpipe.... So I robbed a coat stand and used a lump from it
    Image1044.jpg

    Test fitting....
    Image1045.jpg

    Welded and extra hanger
    Image1046.jpg

All that's left is to rivet it...
    Image1047.jpg

    Finished!
    Image1048.jpg

Still getting used to looking at it..... But a cheap solution to another bumper!
