    Serious amount of work involved with fieldwork, analysis, report prep and presention, result interpretation etc.

    Like a lot of surveys, they are a snapshot on a given day(s), and may not represent the typical behaviour of say a lake on a season to season basis.

    Massive undertaking though and a huge amount of hard slog to produce that report.

    You can find all the detailed surveys here. Lakes/rivers are surveyed every 3 years so if you look at the 2012 survey for a lake go back to 2009 to view the comparable one taken then

    That's right. The 2013 round of sampling are ongoing too.
