Golf vans sell, the auris hasn't as much of a following so needs to be cheaper IMO.

I'm trying to sell my Mazda 6 for last 5 months.
So far except from few phone calls, I haven't had a single person to come over to view it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭miller50841

    Take out FINAL PRICE DROP
Take out contact only after 5
Just say if no answer leave a message or text I will get back to you.

    Take out shopping trolley dings

Add a little about performance and fuel economy based on how you find it.

Leave out about been lowered everyone will think it's the usual boy racer van which is/was the case with most car vans.

They will sell if there priced right I sold my astra van in 12 hours. Price is steep for 07 granted the mileage is low. It's the base model with some aftermarket alloys. If I was buying it which I was looking at them 4 months ago before I bought a focus van the two main things that would put me off a bit are the alloys leave the wheel covers on or buy the proper Toyota alloys that came on the next spec up I can't see the point in buying some kind of inbetween cheap alloy just IMO I'm not trying to insult your van in anyway just being honest.

Secondly the lowered parts its ultimately a van. I can't see the point in lowering it. I often load my focus with a good bit of weight and it copes fine but I can't see the point in lowering it maybe its just me but alot of people looking at the van will be buying it to use as a van. It also would effect clearence.

Finally either hold out or drop it to 6k you should get alot more interest. Best of luck with the sale it's a van I'd have liked but unfortunately I have one got now.

I already had a thread about it, and got plenty of advice.
None of this helped unfortunately :(

Did anyone suggest asking about €500 less?

Ah I remember now sorry didn't recognise user name.

Nice car and does seem cheap but it just proves the trouble anyone has selling a vehicle here with over a 100k on the clock it puts lots off.

    I know this is mad.

    Sure.
Price was over 3000 then, and people suggested that 2500 would be reasonable price.

As you can see I'm down to 2000, and it didn't change a thing. Still zero interest.

It's a pity isn't it as the car looks really well and has a nice spec. The right buyer will eventually come along to buy it.

That Mazda looks like a bargain at that price, I had the same problems recently, couldn't even get anyone to view!
Here's a few tips; bump the add every week, its only 3 euros, some people only go back a few pages and don't know how to use the search.
Take a video. I always click on a video, just out of curiosity, if they won't come to view, you bring the viewing to them.
Put a for sale sign in the window, with your phone number and the price in big digits, (camera phone friendly;)).

center caps missing off the auris, rear wiper resting in the wrong position... little tell tale signs of neglect...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭deaglan169

not really neglect car is spotless ive always cared for my cars in terms of service and parts used, alloys were cheap because they were missing centre caps they are genuine oz motorsport alloys made for toyota camry, and the wiper arm was modified to rest at that angle its what they are doing over on toyotaownersclub.com i quite like look of it but its easy to to put back standard and works perfectly just in reverse

That Mazdas a bargain at that time I bought my first car a golf for 10k in the UK while a friend bought a 6 for well over 20k stg which I thought was a nice motor. Just shows the intrinsic value of cars is sweet f. all.
The problem is its petrol and has 2l road tax which is a serious turn off these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,313 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Cinio, if I had two grand to spend and could afford to run a 2l petrol I'd grab that. That car's been looked after. Shame it's not sold yet.

It looks like if I don't sell it in nearest few months, I'll export it possibly to Poland or Ukraine.
With VRT refund I might make more than 2k on it if all goes well.
It's a pity that motortax rates are so much interfering with second hand car market.
But it's my own fault - I should have though about it when I was buying this car that 2.0 petrol will be pretty much impossible to sell in this country.

Vrt refund is about €400. Would you really get that much by exporting it?

    colm_mcm wrote: »

    I'm not exactly sure TBH.

Thing is that to obtain VRT refund you need to present a proof or registering the car in destination country (if it's EU country).
That can't be done in Poland, as in Poland you can't legally register RHD cars.

So I can either export it to Poland without VRT refund, and sell it there for parts. Or possibly do a modification of converting it to LHD, which might be costly but could possibly pay off, as similar spec and year mazda 6 in Poland in LHD version is worth about 4000euro. But calculating conversion price at around 1500 + 500 for journey there, I still wouldn't get more than 2000 for it, so I'd prefer to sell it in Ireland for 2000 without all the hassle.

Other option is exporting it to Ukraine, and as Ukraine is outside EU, there wouldn't be a need to confirm registration there to obtain VRT refund.
But how much could I get for such car in Ukraine is a thing I need to check.

Anyway - definitely the easiest option is to sell it in Ireland for 2k, but even though price is really low IMHO, there's no interest in that car unfortunately :(

What are you driving at the moment CiniO? Why not drive the 6, it has virtually zero depreciation, ok 400 more than youd like on tax and a little more on fuel depending on miles but a great motor all the same if your not a year junkie like most.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭corkgsxr

If it dont sell either your price is too dear or your add is terrible.

Last 3 vehicles I sold they all sold in a week.

I don't think a price on my mazda from above is too dear, as it's one of the cheapest on donedeal.
And I don't think my add is terrible.

    I changed for 09 civic 2.2 diesel.
It costs me about 2k less per year to run than mazda based on fuel and motortax bills.
I was hoping to sell mazda within few days or weeks, but unfortunately it didn't happen.

And I'm not a year junkie - I don't give a d@mn about number on my plate, but it's nicer to drive a newer car.

Big petrols are very undesirable in current market. If someone wants a petrol they'll go for a 1.8 if someone wants a 2l petrol a mazda 6 isnt top of the list its not even near. Mazda petrols of late are ok in every aspect but excels In none. If you want to sell fast it has to be cheap enough to tempt someone away from a diesel or smaller petrol

It is a combination of the alloys, wiper, tinted window, spoiler.

    On a Van.

That vehicle does not know what it is trying to be, :D

    @Deaglan69
If the toyota car/van is cheap enough people will buy, i think its a little on the dear side and you could buy a nice golf van for that kind of money... just my two cents

Anyway best of luck in selling it

i had plans to make it look like the auris sr that was all,all that is needed is the auris sr alloys, so thats what it was trying to be a 3 door auris sr, and it looked stupid with no rear tint the side windows come tinted and not the rear which for a van i feel is needed for security if you wanted to place tools etc in it

I think the issue with the Van is that they are bought by business. By the time the VAT is taken off and you get your capital allowances it is nearly as cheap to buy a new one!
