    Hi All

I am having trouble with my DM500 clone. When I switch it on there is a green light but nothing happens.

I tried to flash it using a null cable but it keeps coming up with an error message on dreamup :(

Could anyone advise what the issue is here ?

    Thanks
    Barr

Try a different power supply, Like your modem power supply or a hard disk drive PSU. Check first they are the same output (12v, 2 amp). Ive had many with same symptoms and its the PSU thats gone. The Clone DM500's power supplies are very poor, they get too hot. I use PSU's meant for modems, harddrives etc. Always keep PSU's even if the main device fails, always come in handy.

What snaps said, I've a couple of external hard drives that use the same type of power supplies as boxes, if you've a working power supply use that, otherwise I'm afraid your board might be gone.

Good news ,so it may not be as bad as I first thought.

I have a DM800 as well. Could the power cord of this be used on the DM500 and vice versa?

Yep, it should be the same

90% of the time its the power supply. 9% of time you need to reflash. And the final 1% is the box is just ****ed.

The only visible difference on the two cables is the DM500 says 2amp and the DM800 says 3amp.

Would a 3 amp be safe use on the DM500. Don't want anything blowing up :)

its still safe to use it, theres hardware in it to stop too much current entering.

more than safe, ive swapped and tinkered loads of times with my DM's. I dont even use a supplied DM power supply with mine. My DM's are all powered by ex modem, hard drive suppiles which are more reliable. Some are rated up to 5 amps
