    Hi there,
I'm not sure if anyone would be able to offer help without wasting too much of their time, but thought I'd see if I could get some opinions anyway...
I'm a 31 year old mother of 3 young kids. I had gestational diabetes during all 3 pregnancies, which has disappeared after the births.
I keep saying I must do something about my diet to improve it, but I guess I find it hard to find alternatives to chocolates/biscuits etc to snack on.
I'm afraid if I keep this up, I'll have diabetes by the time I'm 40!
My sister in law is on a low/no carb diet, to aid weight loss, and I was wondering if that would suit me, as the carbs (especially from breakfast cereal) were the worst at elevating my sugar levels.
I'm still breastfeeding my 10 month old, but will stop in the next few months. Despite me eating cereals, lots of white bread, and chocolate / ice Cream Daily, I'm fairly slim ( 5'6 and about 8.5 stone or even less - haven't weighed in a while but my clothes have been a little looser lately!) - so weight loss is not an issue.
I also suffer a lot from stomach pains, nausea, bloating, gas - obviously as a result of my diet, and perhaps stress.
I feel if I had a specifc diet type e.g. Atkins/South Beach etc. to follow, I'd be more vigilant rather than half heartedly trying to quit chocolate/cakes, and then making exceptions here, there and everywhere!
Any opions would be greatly appreciated!

You should research irritable bowel syndrom as you have many of the symptoms. The sites will tell you which foods to avoid.

You should start by cutting out processed foods.

Maybe make a batch of your own oatmeal cookies with dark chocolate.

Have lots of healthy snacks ready in your fridge e.g. carrot, celery peppers and hummus. Low fat natural yoghurt, unsalted nuts, frozen mixed berries are also good.

Don't try to cut calories when you are breastfeeding, but you can change to healthier unprocessed foods.
