Last night my gear cable inner snapped snapped at the brifter connection.

    Just a few queries,
Is it possible to fit a new inner without having to change the outers as this would save me having to remove the handlebar tape and a whole lot of time if you can slide a new inner through the casing?

Also it is campy ten speed, will any cable work or does campy have a specific one that only their brand will fit?

    Thanks,

So to get this right, I can fit any inner cable and I don't need a campag specific cable?

Is it difficult to get the new cable in? ie. is it a frustrating job or does it slide in smooth and easy?

It's easy. The only tricky part is getting the cable into the little channel/hole inside the lever. A bit of lube on the end of the cable makes it go easier.

Your only issue after that will be getting the tension right on your derailleur (usually easy) and cutting and capping the cable without splitting it.

You'll get the cable ends with the cable and a pliers will pinch it in place just fine.

The Hardest part is cleanly cutting the cable. Ideally use a cable cutter or tcutter otherwise a very sharp strong snips might do it but you need to apply maximum force to get it in one.

Its not difficult, but it can be a bit "Fiddely"! .

Just make sure you don't fray the end of the new cable when your inserting it into the outer cable at the shifter end. once you feed the cable in a bit, feed it in the rest of the way gently.

I find this can be helped by twisting the inner as I insert it. Twist it to tighten the spiral and any tendency to fray will be reduced.
