Getting mother a coffee maker, haven't a CLUE what to look for...

Hi Boardsies!

As the title suggests, I know ZILCH about coffee, never drank it, probably never will.

My mother has been pining for a good coffee maker/machine the past two years so this year I've decided to get her one for her birthday. Now she's not a big coffee drinker per se. She drinks lattés. And she wants a machine that'll make good/nice lattés. She also mentioned something about wanting a machine that makes the frothy milk bit at the top? (Clearly... clueless!)

Any suggestions/links?

An espresso maker takes a fair bit of practice to get a cup that is not slop. If she is not willing to take it up seriously then you may be wasting your time with a machine.
I got an entry level gaggia a while back and have had great results with it. It gets used every morning for a cappuccino . But.. Its only recently that I got the foam technic nailed down as well as the grinding and machine times.
If she wants simple decent coffee then an aero press or one cup automatic machines may be a better investment
