Car seems clean, female owner and does about 30mpg. My mileage is about 10k per yer so diesel is not a prerequisite. Motor Tax is €636.

Also, does anyone know how to work out if I'm doing 10,000 mile pa and the car averages 30 mpg, how do you calculate the annual cost in petrol? Divide the mpg by the cost of a gallon of petrol to get the cost of one mile and then multiply it by the annual mileage?

Nice car, not a bad price either. Those engines respond well to a remap too if you're into that sort if thing.

Wheels need to go though, a nice OEM set would be much nicer IMO. Also a friend has the same colour on his car and its not the nicest I might add.

    10,000 m / 30 mpg = 333 gallons

Multiply by cost per gallon, and there you have it (cost per gallon is 4.546 times the cost per litre).

    So, 333 x 4.546 x 1.55 (or whatever a litre is at your station). Roughly 2300 euro.

The spec is very bare on that car and the wheels are not suitable for that car IMO.
There's a better spec model here for a few hundred more.

It's a base spec Passat. Fairly grim to be honest and not an easy sell either if you wanted to move it on again. There's loads of them around, aim for at least Comfortline trim, or even better, Highline.

I didn't realise they did a 1.8 petrol in those either. There is or was a 1.4TSI alright. I wonder is that a typo?

1.8 TSI was briefly available before the CO2 taxation came in. Still sold in the UK, where people have a bit more imagination and less obsessed about saving 50 cent a week in motor tax.

Is it not a bit pricey given that it's petrol and Ireland is obsessed with diesel cars atm ?

The fact that it is a base model would put me off straight away and I don't think it is particularly cheap either given the limited appeal it has.

The only extra on that car is the arm rest over the standard baseline spec. Alloys are aftermarket to that car. It really is very basic, a highline is infinitely better. That engine is thoroughly decent though.

More than likely sold and the advert wasn't updated. Wouldn't be the first time to happen on carzone.

I may be biased, but I think the brown is one of the nicer colours on the B6 Passat. What's more likely is that I'm used to it but I think mine looks far better than the black one that's on my road. Definitely agree on the wheels
