    Event Details

    Rockford Rooftile 4 Mile Road Race Tinryland AC Saturday 24th August. Tinryland AC present their Annual 4 Mile road race which will be held at 5.30 pm in Tinryland village Co. Carlow. A mini Rockford will start at 5pm for all juveniles under the age of 15. All juvenile finishers will receive medals and entry will be a nominal fee on the day. A unique addition again this year is t...he Top class spot prizes which will be restricted to non individual prize winners who finish the 4 mile event. Included in these prizes is the opportunity to win a fantastic €1,000 holiday voucher, LCD TV, Digital Camera and a Luxury weekend for two. Cash prizes in all usual Senior Male/Female and Vets Categories and Teams. All finishers will receive a medal. Post race activities include refreshments, race video, presentations, and spot prize draw in the local GAA centre. This year for the second time in the history of our event we will have chip timing and have a race clock at the finish line. Last year we had a record entry of 300 runners and walkers of all abilities.So come along and enjoy a great atmosphere in Tinryland. Tinryland is situated just off Junction 5 on the M9 and is only one hour from Dublin and only 3 miles from the town of Carlow with plenty of shopping and nightlife activities. Online entry with runireland.com till midnight Thursday 22nd August for only €12 or enter on the day for €15 from 4pm on race day in the local parish hall. Junior athletes running the 4 Miler can enter on the day for a discounted rate of €10.Race numbers and race chips will be distributed on race day.     i ran this year last and it is a great race, spread of quality in the field is fantastic with plenty of competition right the way through. The course encourages a fast start and can be a war of attrition in the second half. Feed etc after in the GAA club is great.

    Thanks Asminov for your kind words, yes the 1st mile is definitely super fast and we always feel we go the extra mile with the food afterwards. I should know, when people are watching you pushing 2 trolleys packed to the top with food in a supermarket.

    Thanks for the vote of confidence , only 4 weeks to race day hopefully their will be a good turnout on race day. Next year hopefully you'll be back on the mike playing the tunes. I'll miss it myself this year for the first time in almost 20 years(handy 0/40 prize for someone)

    Yeah great race indeed. Ive done this race for the past 3 years. Great spread of food afterwards and tinryland is a lovely village with a good atmosphere around the evening of the race.
    Unfortuately won't be there this year as Frank Duffy is on the same day.
    But all the best with the race. Hope you get the good weather that seems to be there every year for this race.
