    I want to check what I need to race?
    Do I need to be part of a swimming club and swim Ireland to race.
    I'm happy I can handle the race but can't see what I need to sign up.

    I can't find the answer on http://leinsteropensea.ie/

    The Open Sea Committee requests that First Time Swimmers (Novices):
    • Complete the first time swimmer (novice) form in advance of your first open sea race;
    • get a club official (Secretary, Coach or Senior Club Member) to sign the form; and
    • present the form to the handicapper on registration.

    Thanks

    Yes you need to be a member of a swimming club with Swim Ireland affiliation. Usually you join the club and they register you with Swim Ireland.

    Once you're registered with a club, get the form signed, show up half an hour before the race, pay your money and race.

    They may ask what level of swimmer you are. So it may be good to know what your 1000m or 1500m swim time is.
