Hey, so my car is BMW E46 318i sedan 2001, today while on beach (busy busy place, Bull Island) had to reverse between a bog land/huge fields and parked cars, it was very tight space, so with my front bumper I hit the (no, not the parked car) - the land/ground, didn't notice anything and kept driving, when I dropped my friend home, she said there is something hanging out of my front of car, so I checked, I had no idea what it is, it's basically located under left fog light, it looks like some kind of plastic vent, it's just a part with path/tunnel like and it had wire attached to it, didn't know what it is so I didn't touch it, I inserted it into bumper kind of so it holds, on way home the part tore off and went flying (not big part, size of a human palm), when I got home, I noticed the sensor was dragging all way along against road, still seems to work fine though, no warnings lights appeared or anything.

Any ideas what could it be?

Could.be the brake duct that's gone. As for the sensor, not sure, does your horn still work? Could be the connector to the horn since it sits just behind the front bumper.

It's possibly the outside temperature sensor asthey generally live behind the front bumper and they won't bring on any warning lights if disconnected or damaged.
