Funeral outfit in this weather?

I have a funeral to attend in a few days but I don't know what to wear in this warm weather! :( It might sound silly to be worrying about clothes at a time like this but I want to be dressed appropriately and not pass out from the heat.

I presume I'm right in thinking that bare legs would be inappropriate?

I couldn't handle tights in this weather, so I was thinking it'll have to be (light) black trousers and a loose top. Are linen trousers going to be too informal?

Bare legs are fine I would think, as long as the dress or skirt isn't too short. I was at a funeral recently and I wore a plain knee length black shift with black heels, and it looked fine. Some funerals are more 'formal' than others though.

I wouldn't wear linen pants though, they're a bit too informal.

I think linen pants are fine, just make sure that they're not crumpled looking. Bare legs would be OK too, given the right skirt length.

If it's in a church, just remember that it could be a good bit cooler than outside.

I went to a removal mass today, and will be going to a funeral tomorrow, quite a formal affair. All the women wore either light black trousers and a blouse, or a dress to the knee, with bare legs and flats, no eyelids batted. I'm sorry for your loss.

I would wear linen trousers as long as they are well cut ones and not ones designed for the beach etc. Marks and Spencers are usually a good bet for well cut linen trousers. Perhaps consider a linen blend rather than pure linen as these would wrinkle less.

Thanks ladies, a dress to the knee or smart linen(ish) trousers it is :)
