    I've been listening to Pauric lodge doing radio commentaries for the last few months and think that they should give him a go at tv commentary. Any opinions lads.

    I've heard him a few times and no complaints. Anyone ahead of marty morrissey imo.

    Yes I agree, he has been excellent.

    Not so sure about giving him a shot at the telly, he is one of the best at the moment on radio so I would stick with him there. Canning and Marty need to be pulled from radio commentary, those guys just can't get the descriptive flow going that is needed for radio commentary, it's like watching the telly facing the other way.

    Having said that, it is much better than the laughable efforts from Newstalk. 80% experts waffling amongst themselves and 20% actual commentary on the game is pretty woeful broadcasting.

    he's not bad but he speaks with a very strong midlands accent which can get annoying after a while, but his descriptions are good.

    just take any of the TG4 commentators tbh

    true professionals who describe what is happening on the screen and off screen
    and doesn't use crap, silly language to do so
    their co-commentators are usually straight to the point and clear
