Cork Beginner's Routes - Starting at The Lough

I brought my bike up to the city just over a week ago and have been cycling the whole 2km to work every day (it means I can sleep in really late.) With the sunny weather today I decided to go do a proper cycle (for me.) It was only 9km and it took me about 35 minutes with a fair few traffic lights but I don't know what that says for me. I started around the Lough, went out the Glasheen Road, along Bishopstown Road, up Rossa Avenue and back in the Model Farm road and up Magazine Road. I figured being student central it wouldn't be too bad for cars and apart from the roundabout by CUH it was fine.

I'm sweaty now, but I don't feel wrecked. I took my time and went at a comfortable pace. I wasn't impatient up the hills and I didn't try and go as fast as I could down the hills (which I couldn't do anyway with traffic lights.) I feel like I could have gone a full hour and been ok.

Now I want to try for a longer cycle tomorrow, maybe 14 or 15km. I have a route sort-of planned, involving going left at the end of Rossa Avenue and down to the Lee Fields. I could add anywhere between 4 and maybe 7km that way.

What are other good routes I could go on?

Out to Passage West is a nice flat spin, on to Crosshaven if you're feeling the love.

I live in that general area so try this loop. It's 95% flat and a decent workout. Enjoy.

I think you've got the link wrong there. That'll just take me to plotting my own one.

you could always head to passage, get the ferry accross and head back up from cobh to cork or vice versa. If you havent already started using something like map my ride there are some great mapping apps out there.
    Enjoy

why not head out the straight road to the roundabout before Ballincollig, take a left onto MFR and then go as before from the motor tax office, ie turn right, up melbourne road onto curraheen road and back home, should add a few km for you and no major hills of note.

That 18k one looks great. I'll hopefully get to it soon enough. And I did map the one I did today with ridewithGPS. I tried logging it with Strava as well (I'm a nerd) but it didn't seem to pick up any satellites from the saddle bag.

instead of the straight rd (crap surface), hang a right after the petrol station, takes you along a nice cycle path, you'll pop out at the tennis village on the MFR, hang a left toRossbrook, first right and down onto cycle path towards Murphys farm, that brings you out on Curraheen Rd.
