RTE Radio / 2fm - Down in Waterford

    Anybody else having problems getting radio one or 2fm? Reception dropped an hour ago in the house radio and not being picked up in the car either!

    There always at that local transmitter think I heard something about it this morning .

    Its been down from roughly 2-6pm last few days and again today. Just before they cut it, their now giving out a notice something like... rte networks advises that some listeners can expect interruptions to service during the next 4 hours.


    They must be knocking down Mt Leinster transmitter and building a new one:D

    Seems to be effecting Newstalk and Today Fm as well.

    Rarely listen to RTE stations in the afternoon, only spotted it today because radio one was on at home when it suddenly dropped and later when driving in the car it wasn't picking them up!

    Work at Mt Leinster connected with the removal of the old tower and final testing of the new antennas.

    RTE was off air, Today FM was on from a backup site, other services from there may be subject to interruption and/or low power for the next few days.

    RTE and Today FM outages have ended for now.

    Service Notification:
    RTÉNL - Mt Leinster, Co. Carlow

    Due to essential infrastructure works, our Mt Leinster transmitter will be off the air for up to 2 hours and reduced power operation will be in place between 10:00 and 16:00 on 9th, 10th & 11th July.

    This work will affect the FM radio services from this transmitter.
    RTÉNL apologise for any inconvenience caused by this necessary work.


    RTE R1 is also available on 252kHz LW, though new radios (even car radios) which actually have that seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth.
