I was wondering if anyone is starting to see hens with poults yet, especially with a lot of the silage off the fields and the good weather? I've had a couple of farmers whos ground I shoot over, tell me they have seen hens with usually four or five young with them. Which I suppose isn't too bad at this stage of the season. The nasty bit of weather we had a few weeks ago must have taken it's toll on them. I did hear a few partridge today which is a good sign and thirteen mallard flushed from the flight pond when I went to see how the game crop was doing.

Also spotted two hares and a raven which was cool. I'm due to take fifty pheasant poults myself at the end of this week for the release pen. So all in all great time of year to be out in the countryside.

Have seen lots only posted here the other day we were in a field, Farmer cutting and he called us over, I collected two very young Pheasants and moved them to the side of another field and within minutes the hen flew to them could not find any others, Also collected 31 Pheasants yesterday from Naas for a Pen and have 300 arriving last week in July,Better year so far as last year was a joke with all the rain.

    :)
