never understood what that actually means.

never understood what that actually means.
first to see will buy is often overused now,but saying that it applies to cars that mostly enthusiasts own,and pretty much know all ins and out of the car,and in most cases the list can be quite impressive, but there are now every second yob who is selling his supped up civic/passat/audi that has been abused million times, and because they put in some fancy ****ty rocket launcher size exhaust and some lowering springs it becomes first to see will buy bull$t.
the one oh is pregnant is a joke nowadays, already selling a barge and looking to upgrade to space wagon :pac:

Whenever I see 'still have the box' I lose interest. Don't want to own something that someone kept a cardboard box for for 5 years, to get an extra tenner later when selling.

If I see an iPhone for sale without a box I would not buy it. The box tells you that the phone is genuine as the IMEI number on it will match the IMEI number of the phone.

"no texts, no timewasters, no calls after 6, no offers, no cash no drive, re-advertised due to timewaster, best in country, blah, blah, blah"

FFS, put up pics, description, a price and a contact number. If someone wants it, they'll ring you. Spare me the terms and conditions. It marks you as a bit of a git.

Also, "car for sale", one pic from 100m, no other text at all and a phone number might be a tad brief..

Or it could simply mean that it was stolen with the box ;)

Not very likely. I had 2 phones stolen without their box.

I know this is slightly off topic but I hate when there's
a few people interested in an item and the sobstoryers
come in to try get favor.

"Oh my two year old would love this."
"My three babies would have hours of fun with that"

    Absolute BS-ers!!!

    Can't be faulted.
Needs wishbone and cv joints on both sides to pass NCT.
Few scratches as expected with age but MINT otherwise!

Mines a business phone and is splashed openly bleedin everywhere - on vans, on jeeps, on websites, on linkedin... never had a "breather" or anyone messing call me, ever. I think you might be overestimating the risk at bit... also, selling stuff via smoke-signals is a bit tricky..

    "Will fly through the NCT/DOE".

Fcuking "fly" it through so, you'll get more money...unless it will "fly through" like a lead pig...which is usually the case.

Other people don't. That's the point

Personally, I can spot a dodgy 'back-story' a mile away, and feel it's a pretty obvious way of disguising that the item for sale was stolen.

Ridiculous asking prices I find the most annoying. This recent ad from Adverts being a fine example: http://cf.broadsheet.ie/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/punt.jpg

The endless offers of swaps (despite most ads stating no swaps) and low balling on Adverts make it an irritating place to do business.

I saw a guy advertising on either adverts or done deal just the other day offering to swap his 'beloved' dog for an iPhone!

I usually keep electronic boxes in case something goes wrong with the device. Also, boxes are a good place to keep manuals and extra wiring, easy to remember every time.
