David Johnson the successful National Hunt owner has passed away after his battle with cancer and has been confirmed by Channel 4 racing's official twitter feed and Gordon Elliot.

Didn't know he was ill to be honest.

Himself, Pipe and AP were some team back in the day.

Seemed like a very genuine person and a character I always enjoyed listening. Unfortunately didn't get to hear him very much but happy that a man like him was involved in the game.

Well Chief, Our Vic, Poker De Sivola, Great Endeavour and Comply Or Die are the horses that I had the pleasure of watching in his colours.

    RIP

Owned some great horses, chasers in particular (no idea if that was by design or by accident). One of the first I remember (wasn't one of his first horses but was when I was getting into NH racing( was Golden Alpha who IIRC was bought for a King's ransom from Ireland. I was on at decent prices for the 1999 bumper. Beaten by an apparent 50/1 "rag", although that one (Monsignor ;)) turned out OK!

Numerous festival winners although I'm betting Noel Meade reckons he's lucky to have one of those on the side board :P (think they'd had it off big time ante post on Champleve)

Well Chief was surely destined to win a champion chase after Moscow Flyer regressed after 2005 but injuries intervened

The McCoy/Pipe/Johnson axis was the dominant force when I started watching racing, many many fond memories of their many big race wins

Timmy/Pipey/Johnson were the dominant force when I started.

Well Chiefs Tingle (Moscows Tingle) and WC the VC Chase are find memories.

WC gave buckets of weight away in the VC, 10/3 in the morning (9/4 Lads) drifted to 5/1.
Thank you Celtic (RIP) for guaranteeing prices.
