Ignition coil question

    Hi guys.
My car ( a 00 Ford Fiesta 1.25L) recently had its clutch replaced. When it was replaced I started noticing the car jolting every five seconds or so when the car was in neutral at the lights or something. I brought it back to the guy who said it was unrelated to the clutch and he thought it was my coil failing. I thought grand I'll get it done eventually as I hadn't the money at the time and it wasn't too bad.

I drove it home Thursday evening without any major trouble and then it would not start at all on Friday morning. I thought that the coil must have given up completely so I purchased a new one and put it in. Fairly easy job but the car still won't start. I had checked a few places online and some have suggested that a faulty coil can destroy the ECU and a new one may be needed. Is it normal for a coil just to completely stop working like that overnight?

I may be wrong but after changing the coil and trying to start the engine I was feeling about the relays and one of them was hot.
