cheque lodgement and drawing

I know the standard clearing of a cheque is 3 to 5 days but i was told if i lodge a cheque into a bank of Ireland account it can be drawn on straight away even if its from another bank. Anyone know if this is right?

Yes that is correct... anytime I make a lodgement I have access to it immediately even sterling lodgements.
