Yet Another Ford Focus Buyer's Thread

Hi, have looked through previous threads but didn't see much info I'm looking for so would appreciate any help on this:

Thinking of buying a Ford Focus (petrol) 2006-2009 probably 1.4 or 1.6 and from reading on here it seems the 1.6 Tdci engines can be either great or a nightmare so will avoid them - any other things to look out for or models to avoid? Also, what's the difference between the LX and the Style?

I think this has been covered a few times.

1.6 petrol is good, 1.6Ti-Vct slightly better (but rare).

1.6TDCI is very good, but needs on the button oil changes. Avoid one without a full and verifiable service history. 110/115bhp versions are much better to drive.

Try (if you can) to get Zetec, Ghia, or Titanium specs.

Style replaced the LX from 2008, got marginally better standard equipment initially but in late 2009 the Style got alloy wheels, air conditioning and Bluetooth.
