Sky rf out gone noisy and bad picture

    Hi all

Have Sky HD box and run cable from RF out to distribution amp to feed other tv's in the house,

Last week out of the blue when looking at sky on one of these tv's the picture would just go real bad and the sound goes and there is loud static,

I'm using ch21 all the connections are perfect and it does it to all the tv's in the house, I swapped from RF2 to RF1 and no difference, there is no sky eyes in the house,

When you switch the box off and on again its ok for anything from minutes to days,

Could it be a modulator issue in the box,

It's only 9 months old so I'll be calling sky but would like to see if there is anything I can do first,

    Thanks

It's more than likely a problem with your own distribution system, nevermind your 'perfect' connections.

Do you have an aerial for terrestrial tv connected to the Sky box RF-in?

Sounds more like a faulty distribution amp

    Thanks for the replys

There is no aerial connected to the sky box,

And if it was the distribution amp why would it not do it on saorview as I have a UHF aerial connected to it as well,

It's perfect and like a switch it then goes bad not usually what you would expect from a bad connection

It is possible that atmospheric conditions are causing co channel interference on the frequency you have chosen for the Sky box.
I suggest that you temporarily disconnect the UHF aerial form your system and if the picture clears you would need to change the RF output frequency of the Sky box.

This test needs to be tried when the poor picture quality is present.

If rf1 is giving the same result as rf2, it would appear you are losing the power feed on rf2 and this is causing the switch like deterioration.
A faulty connection can cause the power on rf2 to cut off.
I'd check all connections to ensure the braiding is not contacting the core anywhere, then cycle off / on rf out power supply.

Rf power out is off as I don't need it, there is nothing in the system that needs power, the distribution amp is self powered,

I have to try a cable direct from the sky box rf out to a tv to rule out the amp and wiring,

If that doesn't work it has to be the box,

Thanks again for all the replies
