Have you seen the steel bottomed sumps that are available for the TDIs?

I seen them but ideally want a guard as I've busted it 5 times now as its on coilovers... Have one off a bora but way too big to even adapt to fit

The Bora and Golf sump guards are the same.

It is next to impossible to burst one of those steel bottomed sumps. I have sold them to lads all over the country and have never had anyone back to buy a second one. The front subframe will hit the ground before the sump does when you have the steel version fitted.

    Fit engine raisers instead.

George, what about when said PD150 has been moved from it's cosy home in nice warm black MK4 Golf GTI and taken up residence between the inner wings of a 1990 MK2 Golf GTI... I have an awful funny feeling that when installed in a MK2 (just like a MK2 VR) the engines hang lower than the jeans of the members of N.W.A. ..

Yes when the PD engine is fitted to the Mk2 the sump is more prone to getting hit than when it is in the Mk4.

The advantage of the steel sump, apart from the extra ground clearance, is that even if it does get hit it is much less likely to spring a leak, whereas the aluminium sump will crack with any kind of impact.
