...can be solved by something that is just printed out from a machine.

I know not all problems but most of them. I also know it will cause problems economically if you just keep printing out money so it will never happen.

But just think of all the people who are homeless, starving, can't afford to pay bills, can't send their kids to school or clothe them etc. Murders are committed because of money a lot of the time whether it's drug related or trying to rob banks.

Almost every worry you have is related to money somewhere along the line.

All these problems can be solved by pressing a few buttons.

I repeat: I know this will never happen and would cause economic problems but I'm just thinking hypothetically.

Equal distribution of wealth is a great idea ruined by the people implementing it. Communism has a lot to answer for. There is so much "useless" money sloshing around in hedge funds and pension funds and deposit accounts. Like the old saying goes, money is like manure, when you pile it up, it stinks. When you spread it around, it does a power of good.

“This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.”

Before printed money, people used to cap people's knees if they didn't cough up their shells and glass stone. :pac:

Economics is all about putting resources together efficiently, and economic teaching today tells us that wasting massive amounts of resources (through having huge amounts of unemployed people - permanently wasted labour potential) is the right way to run an economy.

Funny thing is, you're not wrong at all about 'printing' money being the solution; all arguments against it, about hyperinflation and the like, are only true when we are already at 100% employment and still printing (something that should never be done), not when we have huge unemployment like now (that's why Milton Friedman said it was a long-run problem - it's not a problem when you only create money in the short run, when you have huge unemployment).

Nobody who contests this can actually come up with an economic argument against it either, they just use political arguments (with maximal condescension for rhetorical effect), asserting government will choose to do it in a way that is hyperinflationary.

Fact is you can choose to limit money creation so that you don't exceed inflation targets (easily solving the inflation problem - every argument against this is 100% political), and whether or not you get devaluation depends on your 'trade balance' with other countries, something that is easily balanced in the long term as other economies recover (helped along by your increased economic output), or immediately balanced by having other countries engage in the same policies at the same time (boosting their economic output through money creation, to help keep trade in balance).
