Battery life halved after changing provider

I recently changed from 3 to emobile, I kept my old number and phone.
My problem is when i was using my phone with 3 it would normally last all day and if i forgot to charge it could get half the next day out of it.
Stuck in my emobile sim accepted the configuration text and thought happy days, but with the battery is only lasting 6-7hrs(charging for the 3rd time today as i type) I havent changed or added anything (except the configuration text).
I have no idea what could be causing this, it doesnt seem to make sense to me.
Any help or ideas gratefully appreciated.

What's the mobile signal like? A weak signal can drain the battery but I haven't heard of it ever being that extreme.

    Thanks for the reply.
The signal would be bad enough where I work during the day, but no worse than 3 if anything its slightly better.
At home the both signals would be good, I can see both the 3 and emobile masts from my kitchen.

The change is unbelievable and it was that drastis from the day i changed the sim.
I am trying to borrow a 3 sim to see if it changes back.

It would probably have a lot to do with the modem (Baseband), especially that you've moved from 3.
I'm guessing you bought the phone from 3 originally? 3's modems don't seem to work well on other networks and vice versa.
Find someone who has an android from emobile and check their modem and flash the same one.

try looking at what is eating battery with this app
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS51enVtYXBwcy53YWtlbG9ja2RldGVjdG9yIl0.

I have found that since I updated to JB on Xperia S Google Now and Maps are a major drain on the battery as they are constantly checking for a location:mad:

thank you for the advice and sorry for the late reply but i ffinally think i got to the bottom of the problem.
As far as I can make out the problem was down to the internet connection settings. even thought the phone accepted the new provider settings it still had the old provider(three) settings set as priority resulting in what im assuming was a power sapping search and battle between the invalid priority connection settings and the 2nd but valid ones
