Renting and pre-pay meters

    Hi guys
    Moving into a new house next week and wondering if landlords let you get prepay meters in??

    They are more expensive than the normal meter.
    The only person who can answer is...the landlord.

    Some Landlords will, some won't. Do not believe any utility salesman who tells you that you do not need the Landlords permission. You do.

    Thanks for advice guys, surely the majority of landlords shouldnt be bothered about it.

    Except they have to pay to have it removed and repair and damage left behind for something they didn't want or ask for after you have left the accomadation

    Thats true. If landlord allows it, does it go in my name or his??

    Haha just noticed that. I think if you are leaving accomadation and landlord dosent want the meter, you have to pay to get it removed??

    The free installation is free by taking X amount from your bill each time you top up. If you leave before paying off the prepay device, you'll owe the company money, and thus get billed for it.

    And if you never got the landlords permission to install it, you may also get billed for the removal of the device.
