Another one of these threads, couple of bits of info:

-Will be used as a 2nd car
-Have a new baby, so 5 doors would be handy and boot thats not tiny
    -low'ish tax
    -Budget is approx 8k
-She doesnt like anything "boxy" and wants it to be "sporty"looking.
-She quite likes hyunadi i30 etc

Let me have your ideas as anything I suggest she says no to!

    Honda civic hatchback 2006 - 2011 model

Quite nice sporty looking car, with big boot and plenty of space inside.

    Engine options.
1.4 petrol - very sluggish engine, but might suit someone to drive slowly on short distances. Also cheap to tax either on pre 2008 CC rates as CO2 rates.

1.8 petrol - great petrol engine with plenty of power, but bit more expensive to tax - either on CC as well as CO2 bands.

2.2 diesel - probably not great for short distances, and very expensive to tax in CC system, but very cheap to tax in CO2 tax system. However it might be hard to get 2008 onwards within 8k budget.

For 8k, you can very easily get 1.4 with low mileage, possibly around 08 or 09.

    €390 on co2 bands usually.
