HI, I was just wondering if anyone on here is considering having their hip replaced following the faulty hip reurfacing from de puy. My blood metal levels are up and down, I have pain sometimes and I brought a case against de puy as I surely will have to have it replaced at some stage and I am fearful regarding the extra metal in my blood stream. Any one else in the same boat?

There are many people similar to you. I suggest you liaise with your GP and treating consultant. If you in the HSE consider getting a second independent Orthopaedic opinion from a consultant outside the HSE (and away from Whitfield Clinic). Such costs may be recoverable from DePuy. Speak to your solicitor about that.

Ive been told by my solicitor that I need to pay 2500 to be seen by independant specialist so as to provide medical report.(case will not go any further without this) However i am worried that he may simply say I dont have a case and then IM down 2500. Unsure what to do.

All I can say really is if a person has symptoms such as pain/clicking in the joint, elevated blood metal ions and revision surgery is indicated then there generally is a very strong to excellent case against DePuy.

You need to discuss this with your solicitor.

Would the 2500 fee be normal for people to have to stump out for people going through this process?
