As its just a renewal there should be no problem, I normally advise copying all documents before applying and keeping with you

Well as its a provisional licence and is expired would this not give the guards 2 reasons to penalise you if at a checkpoint? I dont think driving alone with no current provisional licence would cut it with just the paperwork

Don't see anywhere in the post a mention of the permit being out of date or the driver being alone
    Only answering the question asked
An application for renewal can be made 3 months in advance of expiry
Secondly are you suggesting everyone with full or learner permits cannot drive while licence is being renewed

Surely the OP needs a driving test so is on a provisional/learning permit, No?

And secondly, yes I would be suggesting that, however I understand the guards can be quite lenient while waiting on renewals, as I was in teh same sit myself before while renewing. My thought was it would be tougher with an expired provisional/learner permit..but again that depends on the very very slim chance of the OP being stopped.

Anyway OP is sorted thats the man thing
