Trying to figure things out

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this as it's a crossover of an issue with my girlfriend and personal problems, regular poster on boards so would really appreciate some help.

My girlfriend is going to Poland to see her family for 3 weeks at the end of the month and I'm struggling pretty badly to deal with it. Been together for over 3 years and gone through a couple of operations with her always there. I've recently started to notice a slight limp (had 2 operations on the foot/ankle area) and it's bringing up memories from the past that I thought I had moved on from.

Now I'm basically verging on tears even thinking about everything and trying to explain why I'm so upset about her going away (she has gone before but this was after the 1st op before the 2nd and the 2nd was a lot more serious) so these memories are the only thing I can think of that might be the problem.

Basically I'm just looking for some advice or at least something to make me feel better about her going.

Just wanted to let some of this out and hopefully feel a little better since I'm not one for sharing problems with other people (although I recently told me Mom about this)

I am young but I love this girl more than anything in the world. Yes I have talked to her about most of this but tbh I don't particularly like her to see me cry.

Are you upset simply because she's going away for 3 weeks, or because she's going away at a time when an old injury seems to be coming back (although from your post, it seems she knows nothing about the new injury)?

The simple act of her going away for 3 weeks to see her family isn't anything terrible is it?

No not at all, I just don't understand why I'm so upset this time compared to last time. I mentioned it to her yesterday but I'm afraid to check if anything is wrong in case I would have to deal with it while shes gone

Is she the only important person in your life? What about your parents, siblings or very close friends... are they not around to give you support in these difficult times?

What I'm saying is... its great your in a loving relationship, but surely there are other people close to you that can help you through this in her absence.

Try to think of her this time. It sounds like you've been through a lot and she's been there for you, which is great, and now it's your turn - let her go visit her family without making a big deal out of it. She probably doesn't get to see them that often if they're in Poland and is probably really looking forward to that so let her have it. Wish her a great trip, wave her off with a smile and she'll be back to you in three short weeks.
