    Hi All,
about 3 weeks ago I emailed a producer a clip of a documentary I had done to see what he thought and also if his company were taking on any assistants/runners, he called me back straight away and had a chat with him about coming in to work with him, gave me his mobile and work number and told me to call him the first week of August, I'm currently in a job at the moment that I would be looking to leave if something came up but I will now have to go off for 6 weeks training on a new product we have, This puts me in a tricky situation as I would have to leave my current position but could not do so in the 6 week period do to a confidentiality agreement, Just wondering what peoples opinions would be on this? would it be rude to call him again and ask what is going on? Plus I don't know if there is a definite position lined up or if it is just a work placement/ internship.
    Thanks in advance

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush - certainly don't go leaving your current job, especially if you're getting training.

If it were me - I'd ring the guy in August and see what he has to say. If he offers you something, then any reasonable person wouldn't have a problem with you saying "I've to finish something in my current job and would be available in three weeks or so" - if he has a problem with that, then it's probably not someone you want to work for anyway.
