(Tokina 11-16) or (Sigma 10-20)?

I'm torn between these two lenses and after having read loads of similar threads on the net I still can't make up my mind.

There doesn't appear to be a clear winner between the two with both having strong points and weaknesses. It's a fairly significant purchase for me so I guess I just need a bit of persuasion either way!

Lens would mostly be used for landscapes, and the occasional indoor shots.

they are both good lenses, its really up to you and if it was me I would go for sigma as it is a bit more versatile...

I've got the Sigma 10-20mm f/4 - f/5.6 and I'm looking at selling to replace it with the Tokina 11-16 as it as a higher aperture of f/2.8.

Reason I want the higher aperture is purely for astro timelapses so the higher aperture will working my favour!

I genuinely the love the Sigma 10-20mm, it's a fantastic lens, really sharp and crisp, perfect for landscape shots with it being ultra wide, just for needs, it's too slow.

If your decide on the Sigma I'll sell you mine for £300, hit me a PM if interested ;) It's only 3 months old, was bought from Amazon in April this year and have receipt to prove it :)

I have the sigma 10-20 (Pentax mount) and it's a good lens. The fact that it's both wider, and deeper than the Tokina probably gives it a slight edge.
If the Tokina is a fisheye rather than an aspherical lens, that might give it an edge.
(I have the 10-20 Sigma for aspherical, and an 11-17 Pentax fisheye myself.)

T-Maxx when it comes to landscapes f/2.8 won't be very helpful at all as you will shot at f/5.6 or even f/8.
I was using Sigma 10-20 (f/3.5 version) for some time during weddings and for landscapes as well. It is a great lens.
Wider field of view might be much more useful for you.

Best prices I've come across so far:

    Sigma 10-20 - £283.99

    Tokina 11-16 - £388.99

The extra £105 might just be the deciding factor.

Be careful with Procamerashop. They ship from hongkong and if caught at customs you can be shafted with import fees.

Also read up on reviews. Some of the reviews I read where enough to put me off them.

That's a shocker! With them being .co.uk registered I've assumed that all goods are shipped from within the UK.

I've checked out their shipping and T&C's and nowhere does it mention that goods may be subjected to custom charges. No return address is given either.

I've sent them an e-mail to clarify.

You could get them both from onestopdigital for only a few euros more . Sigma and tokina

I have had no dealings with this company but I have heard good things about them .

They refund you the customs charges also.

They are grey importers though , meaning that you will have to send it back to them (in hong kong) if you have a problem with it .

Alternatively you could get it from Hdewcameras

They are based in Surrey,UK but the products are sourced from the middle east ,so they are also grey imports .As far as I'm aware you do not have to pay customs charges but it does say on their website

"Please note that by making a purchase on this website you will be acting as the importer of the product for all purposes including all customs regulations, copyright and trademark laws. You accept that the role of HDEW Cameras is limited to sourcing products and making them them available for you to import directly from the country of origin.By purchasing a product through this
website you authorise us to make arrangements for clearance of customs on your behalf for the products you have ordered."

Make sure you get familiar yourself with their terms and conditions.
They do have stock in UK, but they don't provide manufacturer warranty. For some peole this is quite important.

    Good news!

In response to my query re possible customs charges:

All orders are fulfilled and shipped from our warehouse in Crawley, therefore you would not incur any duties, taxes or VAT as the website price plus the £9.99 delivery charge to Ireland is the final amount you will need to pay.

I bought a Canon 650d from promcamerashop last year and had no issues with them. It shipped from the UK, I got the camera within 2 or 3 days of ordering.
